The Time Corridor

Built in 1931, Cheung Chau Cinema is one of the oldest pre-war cinemas in Hong Kong, and was rated as a Grade III historical building by the Antiquities and Monuments Office in 2011. Cheung Chau Cinema has witnessed the transition of the film industry from black-and-white silent films to color talkies, and also experienced the golden age of Hong Kong-produced films when the cinema was full house. It went through the rise of CDs, leading to a downturn in the cinema. Eventually, after 26 years of exploration, restoration and planning, the cinema and the adjacent land were revitalized into the Cheung Chau Cinema Multi-cultural Park in 2023 to promote Cheung Chau and local culture.

The Time Corridor set up at the main entrance passage on the emerging Back Street, with the three major aspects of "History of Cheung Chau Cinema," "Opening and Closing Process," and "Introduction and Prospects," recounts the historical moments of Cheung Chau Cinema, connecting the time spectrum between the past and the modern, allowing everyone to feel the past and review the development and evolution of the cinema over the past 90 years, while discovering the future and introducing new attractions and visions of the park!
